We book the truck under your name with U-Haul, Penske, or Budget at the public rate, zero markup. We lock in your crew for a $5 reservation fee, fully refundable up to 48 hours before your move date.

How is this different from HireAHelper or MovingHelp.com?
Marketplaces hand you a list of 1099 crews and leave the truck research, comparison, and booking to you. You are stitching the move together yourself. With The Power Move you have one phone call: we book the truck, we send the crew, we coordinate the timing. One quote, one invoice, one team.
How is this different from a full-service mover?
Full-service bakes the truck cost, fuel, driver hours, and per-mile fees into their quote. That is where the 40-60% premium comes from. We strip out everything except the labor and the truck itself, then pass the truck through at the rental company's price. The math: U-Haul or Penske rate plus our labor rate equals your total, with nothing in between.
Do you mark up the truck?
No. We reserve it under your name on the rental company's site and you pay them directly when you pick it up. We do not touch the transaction. The savings come from cutting overhead, not playing middleman games.
What truck size will you book?
Whatever is right for your move. A 1-bedroom usually fits a 15-foot truck; a 2BR house usually needs a 20-footer with a few feet to spare. We size up one tier if you have anything bulky (king mattress, sectional, treadmill). If the truck shows up too small, that is on us. We will send a second one and you do not pay extra.
Do you book the truck, or do I?
We do. We reserve the right-sized truck under your name with U-Haul, Penske, or Budget at the public rate. You pay the rental company directly when you pick up the keys. No markup, no middleman.
What size truck do I need?
We tell you when you quote. General guide: studio or 1BR fits a 15-foot truck. 2BR usually needs a 20-footer. 3BR or bigger needs a 26-footer. Going too small means two trips, which costs more in labor than upgrading the truck.
Can you do same-day?
Yes for the labor. The truck depends on rental availability at U-Haul or Penske near you, which we will check when you quote. Most markets have something available within 24-48 hours.
Do I have to drive the truck?
Yes, that is the one job we leave with you. You pick up the keys at the rental counter, drive the loaded truck between addresses, and drop it back at the destination rental location. If you do not want to drive, see our local-moving option where we can arrange door-to-door service.
How much do I save vs. full-service movers?
Usually 40-60%. Full-service quotes bake in the truck markup, fuel surcharge, driver overhead, and per-mile fees. Our pricing is just labor plus truck-at-cost. The savings come from cutting overhead, not cutting corners on the crew.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Fully licensed and insured. Every move includes $1,000 in damage protection on items damaged during loading or unloading. In-transit damage falls under the truck rental's coverage since you are the one driving.
